The Stanford Mansion in Sacramento was the site for a reception honoring the Consul Generals to the State of California. The event, hosted by Charlotte Schultz, Chief of Protocol for the state, was attended by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, his wife Maria Shriver and foreign dignitaries from 110 countries. As guests entered the mansion's main entrance, they were welcomed by California's first Governor Leland Stanford and his wife Jane. Stanford, one of the 'Big Four', joined his railroad business partners Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins and Collis Huntington as they mingled with guests in the garden.

The BCG added color to a western themed reception for tour operators from around the state. Held at the California History Museum, the area's rich historical heritage and unique attractions were showcased to promote Sacramento as a featured destination. Gang members mingled with guests at a saloon bar, jail (complete with a shotgun-toting Sheriff), period gambling layouts and gold panning demonstration.
